Bio

As an ATV venture partner, Rich evaluates opportunities in the healthcare field and provides investment recommendations. A clinical cardiologist, he serves as a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, and as the director of ethics and policy for Stanford BioDesign which oversees the Innovation Fellowship. Early in the 1970s, Rich pioneered the technique of applying ultrasound technology to detect heart disease at Stanford University. He has held several senior positions, including senior associate dean for academic affairs at Stanford University School of Medicine, president of the American College of Cardiology in 1997-98, and chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Cardiovascular Diseases Subspecialty Board.
