Mr Coulter is a founding partner of Texas Pacific Group ("TPG"). TPG, based in San Francisco and Fort Worth, is a leading private equity investment firm managing in excess of $10 billion. TPG has been a lead equity investor in more than 30 companies including: Continental Airlines; Del Monte Foods; Seagate Technology; Oxford Health Plans; Beringer Wine Estates; Burger King; Paradyne Networks; Ducati Motorcycles; J. Crew Group; Punch Taverns; ON Semiconductor; Gemplus; America West Airlines; MEMC Electronic Materials; and, GlobespanVirata. Companies where TPG is a control investor have over $27 billion of annual revenues and 200,000 employees. In addition, Mr Coulter is a founder of affiliated private equity funds including: Newbridge Asia, a leading Asian private equity fund managing in excess of USD 1 billion; Colony Capital, a leading real estate opportunity fund; and, TPG Ventures, a USD 500 million venture capital fund focused on information technology and life science investments. Prior to co-founding TPG in 1992, he worked for The Robert M Bass Group Inc and Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb. Mr Coulter serves or has served on the Boards of Directors of MEMC Electronic Materials, Seagate Technology, GlobespanVirata, J. Crew Group, Continental Airlines, Beringer Wine Estates, Northwest Airlines, Oxford Health Plans, Allied Waste Industries, and American Savings Bank. He also serves or has served on the Boards of the San Francisco Zoological Society, the Bay Area Discovery Museum and the San Francisco Day School. He is a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. Mr Coulter is a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1986, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
