Alden C. Purrington, III (Chip) is Managing Director of the investment banking and corporate finance division of Communications Equity Associates (“CEA”). Chip is based out of CEA’s New York Office with primary focus on M&A and corporate finance transactions involving the biotechnology, medical device, media, entertainment, information technology, telecommunications, and services industries. Chip is an accomplished entrepreneur and investment banker with 20 years of experience. His holistic approach blends a mix of strategic planning, sales channel/partnership development and financial advisory services to facilitate private equity, debt financings, mergers and acquisitions. Chip utilizes his established network in New England, New York, Florida and California to successfully complete transactions for a breadth of fast growing companies with strong management teams from biotechnology and medical devices to telecommunications, to networking to computer hardware and service companies. His prior direct operating roles in product management, strategy, finance, and business development have resulted in product innovation and new market development for established brands – Mattel Toys, The Walt Disney Company, Quaker Oats and the Stroh Brewery Company. As a successful entrepreneur, he built and sold a media and e-commerce company, Magnitude Network, to CMGi for $25MM. Chip’s advisory services for emerging growth clients yielded tens of millions of dollars in raised capital, triple digit revenue growth, new market expansion, successful integration of acquisitions, and client recognition in the Inc. 500 fastest growth companies. Chip earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Bates College.
