Mr. Harwell has received the National Distinguished Eagle Scout award and the Silver Buffalo award; he also is a recipient of the Joe Kraft Humanitarian award from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the John Tune Public Service award from the Nashville Bar Association, and recently was the annual tribute honoree of the Arthritis Foundation. Mr. Harwell was honored as Nashvillian of the Year, with Amy Grant, for 2002 and was the 2002 Distinguished Alumnus, Vanderbilt University Law School. Aubrey B. Harwell Jr. is the managing partner of Nashville law firm Neal and Harwell, where he specializes in crisis management, white-collar criminal defense work, and commercial litigation. Mr. Harwell represents numerous high profile clients including former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, Bridgestone/Firestone Corporation, the Tennessee Lottery and WTVF-TV. He is named one of the “Best Lawyers in Tennessee” by Business Tennessee magazine, a mid-South “Super-Lawyer” and selected in Who’s Who Legal (Business Crime) by the International Bar Association, and noted as one of “The Best Lawyers in America” for the past 25 years. Mr. Harwell is on the Board of Directors of Ingram Industries, Inc., Piedmont Natural Gas, and FCA Venture Partners I, II, III, IV. He holds the Jennings A. Jones Chair of Excellence in Free Enterprise, Jennings A. Jones College of Business, Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. Harwell’s civic activities include serving on the Boards of Trust of the Meharry Medical College (Vice Chair), the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (Past Chair), Middle Tennessee Council, Boy Scouts of America (Past President), the Nashville School of Law (Vice Chair), the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (Past Chair), The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, the Easter Seals Society (Past Chair), the Music City Bowl (Past Chair) and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is the past Chairman of the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. He is the National Treasurer and on the Executive Board of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America.A graduate of Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University School of Law, Mr. Harwell has taught at the Vanderbilt University School of Law, served on the law school’s board, and now serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees for the Nashville School of Law. He is a life member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference, past president of the Nashville Bar Association, past president of the Tennessee Chapter and member of the national board of directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
