Bio
Mr. Ben Cheng is a member of Advisory Committee of Vertex SEA Fund, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings and a member of Venture Committee of Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.
Mr. Cheng has been actively engaged in major venture capital and private equity investments across the sectors of technology and consumer. He has been involved in leading sought-after deals including Xiaohongshu （China’s leading lifestyle sharing platform）, GoLong (global beauty e-commerce and incubator), Threads ( UK’s leading social media-empowered luxury e-commerce platform) , GritWorld (3D visual graphics rendering engine), etc. GritWorld was recently awarded ChinaVenture’s “Top 10 AI & Big Data Deals”.
Prior to joining C Ventures, Mr. Cheng was an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Standard Chartered Bank. Mr. Cheng has been involved in some major transactions in the region, including the US$3.3bn take-private of WuXi PharmaTech, Temasek’s $5.7bn investment in Watson’s and the US$2.1bn acquisition of ING’s insurance business in Hong Kong, Macau and Thailand.
