Anathem’s Founder and Managing Partner, Crystal McKellar, has spent 15 years advising and investing in technology companies, most recently as a Managing Director at a large growth-stage venture capital fund backed by Peter Thiel, where she sourced, led diligence, and structured some of the fund’s most successful health care and technology investments. Crystal currently serves on the board of Cooler Heads, and previously served as a board member at Siren, DoubleDutch (acquired by Cvent), as a board observer at Fractyl, and worked closely with Auris Surgical Robotics, which was acquired for $3.4 billion in 2019. Crystal is a Kauffman Fellows Mentor, and has served as a mentor at TechStars and the Ad Astra tech incubator programs. Crystal is a proud member of All Raise and is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and innovation at technology conferences and finance events. Crystal is also a guest contributor at TechCrunch. Earlier in her career, Crystal practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and Morrison & Foerster in California, where she worked with Fortune 500 companies and the world’s largest financial institutions as they navigated times of crisis and opportunity. Crystal graduated magna cum laude from Yale University; earned a Master’s Degree with Distinction from the University of Oxford, and earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
