Bio

Dan is the founder and CEO of Theranova, a healthcare incubator that has spun out 15 successful companies in the last 14 years, and that has collectively raised over $300 million for its companies. Dan is the founder and Chairman of Potrero Medical and founder and CEO of Bone Health Technologies, and has authored over 270 patents issued and pending worldwide. Dan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Bioengineering department at UCSF and serves on the Board of Directors at UCSF Health Hub Connect, which connects early to mid-stage healthcare startup founders with the people, expertise, or capital they need. Earlier in his career, Dan was an engineer with the FDA and general partner at a health care fund. Dan also founded a nonprofit that is dedicated to adapting existing medical technologies for use in under resourced countries. Dan earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MD and MBA from Duke University.
