Bio

George is a Managing Partner and a founder of FA Technology Ventures. He serves on the Board of Directors of privately held Autotask, CORESense and StreetEasy. He also serves on the boards of publicly held iRobot (NASDAQ: IRBT) and Plug Power (NASDAQ: PLUG). George has spent most of his career as the senior executive at Gleacher. He stepped down in 2002 as Co-CEO to focus full-time on FA Technology Ventures. During his tenure at Gleacher, George redirected Gleacher’s strategy from that of a regionally focused retail brokerage firm to that of an institutionally oriented equity investment banking and trading firm with resultant top twenty market shares in investment banking and trading volumes in the technology and health care sectors on NASDAQ. With Ken Mabbs, George led the venture investing activity of the FATV I Portfolio. His first investment was the seed investment in MapInfo, followed by their investments in the META Group, Mechanical Technology, Plug Power, iRobot, and Amici. George served on the Boards of these companies and was the Chairman of Mechanical Technology and Plug Power. George has also served on a number of non-profit boards and public sector commissions including the Governor’s Commission of State and Local Fiscal Policies and as Chairman of the State Debt Reform Committee. George is a graduate of Yale University.
