Bio

Jay W. Sammons is a Principal with U.S. Buyout, focusing on acquisitions and equity investments in the consumer, retail and education sectors. Mr. Sammons is based in New York. Since joining Carlyle in 2006, Mr. Sammons has been actively involved with Carlyle’s investment in Philosophy, Inc., which was exited when it was acquired by Coty, Inc. in December 2010. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Sammons was with Avista Capital Partners and DLJ Merchant Banking Partners in New York, and he began his career at JP Morgan. Mr. Sammons is on Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was previously on the Board of Directors of Philosophy, Inc. Mr. Sammons received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
