Joan Midthun Larrea

Bio

Ms Joan Midthun Larrea, Managing Director, is a member of the Emerging Markets team and leads GEF's strategy in China and Southeast Asia. She serves on the board of GEF portfolio companies in the region, including UPC Renewables China Ltd, a wind power developer. Prior to joining GEF in 2005, Ms Larrea was a principal investment officer at International Finance Corporation, where she closed over $260 million in infrastructure and manufacturing transactions in China, the Philippines, India, Thailand, and Indonesia. Ms Larrea received her MBA with distinction from the Wharton School. She also holds a Master of International Studies, with a concentration in East Asia and Mandarin Chinese, and a BA in Oriental Studies, magna cum laude, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
