Bio

Chief Executive of Evolutec plc from 2004 to 2007 and has leadership experience in startup, turnaround and established businesses. Has 20 years experience in the life sciences across R&D, Business Development, Marketing, Sales and General Management. Became CEO at Evolutec, a development stage biopharmaceutical company, in 2003. Focussed the business on inflammation in the ophthalmology and respiratory space and built an operational team to deliver research, preclinical and clinical programmes. Prepared and led the company through a successful IPO in August 2004. £28M was raised to fund the programmes and a successful Phase IIa clinical result led to the negotiation of a $210 M partner heads of terms. Following disappointing Phase IIb clinical results led the company through a strategic review and recommended a return of cash to share holders. Prior to joining Evolutec was General Manager of Zeneca UK, devised and implemented a new business strategy which involved repositioning the business and demanded new levels of operational effectiveness to deliver revenue growth and improved ROS.
