Bio

Michael Hammer is seconded to Physic Ventures by PepsiCo as a full-time member of the Physic venturing team. Both Physic and PepsiCo share a mission grounded in consumer health, wellness and sustainability. Michael focuses on the food and nutrition investment sector, as well as opportunities to improve the environmental impact of the supply chain. He is also responsible for creating new touch points between Physic's and PepsiCo's core business sectors including beverages, foods, nutrition, sustainable living, and health management. Michael has over 20 years of experience in marketing and innovation in the retail and consumer goods industry. He has specialized in beverage innovation as well as retail applications and commercialization. He has been with PepsiCo for over 10 years and has developed core competencies in retail design, channel and brand management, shopper insights, strategic planning and execution, and consumer insights driven innovation. Most recently, Michael has been directing the marketing and innovation pipeline for the North American Coffee Partnership, a joint venture between PepsiCo and Starbucks Coffee Company. He has led the repositioning of the entire portfolio of ready to drink coffee beverages, and helped build the pipeline of category changing innovation that expanded the Starbucks beverage portfolio. He has led a number of innovative consumer engagement projects, from new beverage equipment platforms to customized product innovation programs. He has a broad range of channel strategy and marketing experience from grocery and mass to foodservice, travel and leisure and automotive.
