Nandini focuses on investments in biopharmaceuticals and medical devices. Nandini’s experience encompasses 20 years of venture capital and operational background helping build companies in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical devices, diagnostics and semi-conductor industry across all stages of development, from research to commercialization. Nandini joined Lumira Capital when she established our San Francisco Bay Area office in early 2004. Prior to joining Lumira, Nandini was a partner with RBC Capital Partners. She launched their U.S. life science presence by opening their San Francisco office in early 2002. Nandini was the chief business officer, Zyomyx Inc., vice president of business development, Hyseq Inc., and prior to that held various operational positions at Chiron Corporation, Glaxo Wellcome and the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina. Nandini brings to her portfolio companies diverse executive level background in M&A, business development for in-licensing & out-licensing, R&D, and marketing and sales at both private and public companies. Nandini’s past or present board roles and investment responsibilities include the follows: Acorda Therapeutics (NASDAQ:ACOR), Alexza Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ALXA), Ambit Biosciences, Cell Biosciences, Ception Therapeutics, Conforma Therapeutics, Corus Pharmaceuticals, KAI Pharmaceuticals, Guava Technologies, IDUN Pharmaceuticals, Saegis Pharmaceuticals, Spinal Kinetics and U-Systems Inc.; with several exits via IPO or M&A with acquirers such as Biogen-IDEC Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Sciences Inc., Millipore Corporation and Pfizer Inc.. Nandini is a strategic advisory board member, Stanford University, School of Medicine Career Center. She is also on the advisory boards of Bio Investor Forum, C21 BioVentures, Science Futures, US-India Pacific Council and on the technical advisory board for XStor Medical Systems. She is an active member of National Venture Capital Association. She is a Global Trustee for TiE, The Indus Entrepreneurs. TiE is the world’s largest non-profit dedicated to mentoring entrepreneurs. A White House Intern and a Phi Beta Kappa, Nandini received her PhD Phi Lambda Upsilon in biochemistry from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and her BA cum laude from Hollins University, Roanoke, Virginia.
