Piers Hartland-Swann

Bio

Joined FirstCapital in 2008 and has worked in banking for more than 25 years, including 22 years in investment banking. Deals he has worked on since joining FirstCapital include Texperts and i2O Water. Joined from MacArthur and Co, where he was a Partner focusing on advising and fundraising for growth companies. Previously Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns in Hong Kong, where he led the team that advised China Telecom on their US$1.4 billion IPO in 2002. Prior to this, spent 14 years at UBS Warburg, most recently as Head of Asian Telecoms Corporate Finance in Hong Kong, advising clients such as PCCW on its US$34 billion takeover of Hong Kong Telecom, NTT, Korea Telecom and Chunghwa Telecom on public equity offerings and Swisscom, Deutsche Telekom and BT on regional mobile acquisitions and disposals. Before Hong Kong, spent 6 years at UBS in London in Corporate Finance, advising clients in many different industry sectors including telecoms, technology, biotech, financial institutions and transportation. Prior to that he spent 5 years in Fixed Income where he ran a number of different products, including Euro MTNs, asset swaps, bond options and structured investments. Started his career as a credit officer at Citibank in London, where he spent 3 years specialising in project finance and lending to the oil and gas industry.
