Bio

Mr. Bartholomew is a founder and chairman of Stokes & Bartholomew, P.A., which merged with the law firm, Adams and Reese LLP in 2005. Upon graduation from the United States Military Academy where he was a cadet captain and linebacker on the Army football team, he served as an Airborne Ranger Armored Cavalry officer in Germany, Latin America and Vietnam. Highly decorated, he has continued to be active with West Point and military programs. He graduated from Vanderbilt Law School in 1973, Order of Coif and was a Law Review Editor. He was a lecturer in law, teaching at Vanderbilt Law School and Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt at intervals from 1974 until 2008.He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations and is a Fellow in the Tennessee and Nashville Bar Foundations. He is past Chairman of the Legal Committee of Airports Council International. For a number of years, he has been selected as a member of the Outstanding Lawyers of America. In 2005, he was selected as a member of Best of the Bar and in 2006-2009 as a member of Super Lawyers. He was appointed by President Reagan to the Board of Directors of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) . He has served on the Board of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency and was appointed a Federal Land Commissioner by the U.S. District Court. He presently serves on the Board of Regions Financial Corporation. He has served on several other corporate Boards, including Third National Bank, Union Planters Corporation and Corrections Corporation of America.He is Past Chairman of the Governor’s Annual Prayer Breakfast and served as State Chairman of the Vietnam Leadership Program and Vietnam Memorial, receiving the Governor’s Outstanding Tennessean Award in 1984. In 2006 he served as Chairman of the Wounded Warriors Nashville event, raising funds for Iraq wounded soldiers. He was recently named to the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation’s board of directors. He served as Director of Senator Howard Baker’s campaign in 1973 and was Tennessee Chairman of Reagan’s Presidential campaign. He served as treasurer for Dick Fulton in the Fulton for Mayor Campaign. Active civically, he was a founding member of Nashville Sports Council as well as the Music City Bowl. He is Past Chairman of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and in 2008, he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. He served on the Boards of YMCA, Middle Tennessee Football Foundation, The Family Foundation, The Sergeant York Foundation and the Tennessee Police Athletic League. He has been Chairman of the Nashville Salvation Army, Rotary Club, St. Thomas Hospital, West Point Society, “Just Build it” Committee that brought the Titans to Nashville.
