Shawn joined South Franklin Street Partners in April 2007 and brings over 17 years of diverse and practical business knowledge to the firm, including private equity, investment banking and turnaround & restructuring experience, coupled with true hands-on operating experience in both an entrepreneurial and a large corporate setting. He has served as a board member or board observer for a variety of companies. Prior to joining SFSP, Shawn was a Director with a NY-based turnaround, restructuring and investment banking boutique where he focused on providing investment banking and other advisory services to financially and operationally challenged companies. Previously, he had served as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Administration for Big Rock Sports, a $300mm specialty distributor jointly owned by Key Principal Partners and JP Morgan Capital Partners. Big Rock Sports was a portfolio company of Mr. Ely’s at Key Principal Partners, where he had spent six years making both controlling and non-controlling investments in middle market companies across the U.S. Prior to his tenure with Key Principal Partners, Shawn served as a Vice President with a Cleveland-based regional investment banking firm where he focused on executing middle market M&A and capital raising transactions for clients in a variety of markets. He had also spent several years in both the workout group at Key Bank and the corporate treasury division of KeyCorp. Shawn graduated with a B.S., cum laude, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago.
