Shinya Yano

Bio

Dr Yano has served as President & Chief Executive Officer of Astellas Venture Management since January 2009. Prior to joining the company, Dr. Yano served as the Director at Department of Product Portfolio and Strategy, Astellas Pharma Inc. As a corporate portfolio manager since 1997 with Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co Ltd. (one of the merger companies which eventually became Astellas in 2005), he was deeply involved in the discussion of the Yamanouchi-Fujisawa (Fujisawa being the other merger company which became Astellas) product portfolio merger. He has extensive experiences in business development and management in R&D alliances with Genex, Damon Biotech, Protein Design Labs, Amgen, BMP, Genetics Institute (Wyeth), Searle-Pharmacia (Pfizer), Sanofi-Aventis, Agensys, FibroGen, and so forth. Dr Yano is a member of the American Society of Hematology. Dr hold a Phd and was trained as a molecular biologist and has expertise in mAb technology and hematology.
