Bio

Following a successful career with Goldman Sachs, Simon now manages an international portfolio of private and public equity, bonds and venture capital investments through his firm, SM Investments. He also provides consultancy and board services to a number of companies. Simon was a Partner at Goldman Sachs where he was co-head of the European Special Situations Group (ESSG), responsible for proprietary investments including a large portfolio of turnaround, venture capital and private equity investments, throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa. Simon joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 in Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities to set up a broker-dealer of distressed bank debt and bonds. In 2003 he co-founded the ESSG. During his earlier career, Simon worked as a managing director for Bankers Trust Company heading up distressed trading in Asia and Japan. Simon earned a degree in civil engineering from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University.
