Bio

From 1993 to 2007, was Managing Director/President of the 4th State Pension Fund, one of the the largest Swedish pension funds (Fourth AP Fund) with assets under management of Euro 21 billion. Started with the Fund in 1983 in charge of analysts and served as Chief Investment Officer from 1984 to 1988, when he became Deputy Managing Director, a position held until 1993, when Mr Halvorsen was appointed President having overall responsibility for the Fund’s operations. Started his career in 1974 with Svenska Handelsbanken, one of the top three commercial banks in Sweden, where he served as a financial analyst with the Corporate Finance department until 1983, when he joined the Fourth AP Fund. During his career, has served as a board director on a number of Swedish corporations listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, including AB Electrolux (appliances), Sydkraft AB (energy), JM Bygg and Fastighets AB (construction and property development). Has also served on a number of early stage / small cap companies, as the Fourth AP Fund was the largest domestic investor in venture capital. Senior adviser to Health Cap Partners, a well known Swedish venture capital group. Currently he serves as a board member of Beijer Alma AB and The Swedish Cancer Society. Degree in business administration from the Uppsala University in 1974.
