Bio

Bill Geary focuses his investing primarily on healthcare and has been with North Bridge since the firm's founding in 1994. He has served on the Boards of numerous market-leading companies and has played an invaluable role in helping nearly all North Bridge investments establish themselves as businesses. Previously, Bill was a Partner at Hambro International Equity Partners. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer of MathSoft, an applications software start-up that subsequently went public on the NASDAQ and was later acquired by Parametric Technology Corporation [NASDAQ: PMTC]. Nearly 25 years ago, while negotiating the terms of a first round investment in MathSoft as its CFO, he sat on opposite sides of the table from Rich D’Amore, one of his current North Bridge colleagues – an exchange enlivened by the early portable computer Bill had lugged along, which modeled every proposition on the spot and taught Rich his first lesson in the artful use of technology. Prior to MathSoft, Bill worked for Congoleum Corporation, where he helped structure and raise the capital for its successful $500 million private buyout, and was a CPA in the Boston office of Arthur Andersen & Company. As Chair of the Board of Trustees of Boston College, his alma mater, Bill is committed to strengthening higher education and supporting financial aid efforts. He owes his undergraduate education to BC’s Carroll School of Management (Honors Program, magna cum laude, 1980) and his foundational roots to the public housing project in Boston where he grew up. Bill also serves on the Investment & Endowment Committee of Boston College, on the Advisory Board of the Children’s Hospital Boston Technology Fund, and he and his wife are Chairs of the Parents Committee of Duke University.
