Overview

Atreides Management, LP is a investment firm employing a crossover strategy to invest in consumer and technology companies with a long term perspective across both private and public markets. Atreides is stage agnostic with historic check sizes ranging from $160k to over $50m, but generally scales up their investment over time as conviction grows.  Atreides prefers to have a 6 month relationship with an entrepreneur before investing over $5m. Atreides will make smaller, earlier stage investments as a way to develop that relationship if the round is being led by a VC with whom Atreides employees have a long relationship.  Atreides is comfortable investing in all sectors of technology and consumer; from semiconductors through DTC brands.

Atreides has invested in ACV Auctions, Sonder, Drivenets, Druva, K Health, Nexar, Premise Data, Electric AI, Mythic AI and Xsight Labs among other venture and growth equity investments.  Managing Partner & CIO Gavin Baker is currently on the board of directors for Xsight Labs, which is a semiconductor company in Israel focused on cloud infrastructure technologies.  Gavin Baker has been on Patrick O’Shaugnessy’s podcast “Invest Like the Best” multiple times and was interviewed by “The Market” in late 2020.  Atreides was featured in the Wall Street Journal in December 2020 and Gavin presented his thoughts on Omnichannel retailers to help raise money for the “Sohn Hearts and Minds” foundation in late 2020.  

Gavin Baker founded Atreides in January, 2019 after an 18 year career at Fidelity investments. While at Fidelity, he most recently managed the $17 billion OTC fund, which outperformed over 99% of its Morningstar peers and won 6 Lipper awards over Gavin’s 8-year tenure as portfolio manager. Gavin was the Boston Globe’s Fund Manager of the Year in 2014 and his performance was recognized by articles in the New York Times, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily and the Wall Street Journal. He helped spearhead Fidelity’s venture capital investing and was a board observer at Nutanix, 23andMe, Jet.com, AppNexus, Dataminr, Taboola and Roku, among others, in addition to making venture investments in Twilio, Redfin, SpaceX and Uber.
